We’re living in awesome times. For many, the combination of ontological shock and existential dread gnaws at our collective spirit. Flirtatious glimpses of strange and sublime, extra-conscious phenomena tease our soul. The dawning of a new world casts light on the collective, psychic smog stifling us and it begs a question- Is a “mass awakening” happening or are we just seeing the world with clarity, thanks to more “sunlight?”
Are We Living in “A Time of Great Revealing”?
I wrote a piece last year for Psychedelics Today- What is Spiritual Emergence and How Does it Relate to Psychedelics? I interviewed Michelle Anne Hobart, who spoke to the collective moment we’re experiencing. Hobart described it as a “time of great revealing.” As the world’s uncertainty and confusion ramp up, can we deny this?
“If we delude ourselves into thinking that we’re not all on the cusp of spiritual emergency then we’re not understanding the zeitgeist of our times; meaning that this is a really evolutionarily big, nodal point. So I think there’s a lot working on us all right under the surface,” Hobart said.
Hobart’s words have stuck with me ever since. Researching the article, I learned that I had my own brush with spiritual emergence/emergency after I smoked the toad in Mexico a few years back. I experienced a psychic opening which involved a chain of synchronicities spanning half a year. The universe got so cheeky, and flirtatious with me, I almost thought I was losing it, as I teetered on destabilization.
I got everything sorted out fine, and since then, world events and societal currents have increased their intensity and weirdness. We might just be at that darkest right before the dawn moment. Tricky beams of light already illuminate and disinfect what our psychic smog once hid from us. Besides the “sun” assisting us, is another planet influencing us?
Neptune in Aries
As I’ve spent more time going down the rabbit hole of astrology, I tend to buy into it, bit by bit. Last year I wrote, Is a Divine Influx Coming? In the piece, I discuss a video by Michael Martin, a YouTuber. Martin says:
there is a “vibe shift” coming in 2025, and that we’ll “start over.” He mentions that this is the true “Great Reset” and that this shift will “usher in an era of spirituality and optimism.” He follows up by stating that “people are getting more interested in psychotherapy using psychedelics.”
Martin’s astrological forecast rests on Neptune moving into Aries on March 31st, 2025. To be more accurate, he says Neptune moves into Aries on April 1, or April Fool’s Day. We are right on the date, and things can’t get much weirder.1
Take an hour spin through YouTube and you’ll find all kinds of interesting people talking about the changes in their lives. People losing jobs and homes, living in cars, people moving, people changing or giving up lucrative professions, and people losing interest in former passions, hobbies and pastimes. Is the egregore, collective consciousness, the zeitgeist, whatever you want to call it, demanding us to change by way of Neptune?
Interesting events and cultural shifts have taken place during previous periods of Neptune in Aries thanks to Neptunian archetypes. Neptune is about myths, stories and realities. Neptune promotes spirituality and mysticism. A Neptune cycle also represents the oceanic and watery aspects of consciousness On one hand, this can lead to new faiths, or illusions and mental health issues.
Our stories, and the stories we tell ourselves are changing. There’s a subtle current of people returning to Christianity. We’ve had enough hurricanes and flooding in the last year to last a lifetime. More people are interested in psychedelic-assisted therapy. The mental health crisis surges on with no end in sight, and a whole bunch of lies are coming to light.
A YouTuber by the name of Pam Gregory sheds more light on the era and Neptune moving into Aries.
Gregory says:
Another whole theme is scandals, lies, deceptions, deceits, the media. Particularly where there's been a kind of veil. This is about disillusionment. It's about the veil dropping and what we thought was true and good and honest isn't. There's a great feeling of disappointment and disillusionment…
This white knuckle ride is just getting started, as Neptune occupies Aries until 2039. Have you noticed what’s been surfacing, and continues getting attention in the zeitgeist as of late?
Corrupted Contours of Consciousness
A strong scent of suspicion, dubiousness and questioning wafts in the air today. I often hear the word “psyop” employed in mainstream political commentary, and the word seems to reflect the current vibe. The CIA always makes a quality, usual suspect. However, don’t ever forget Edward Bernays.
100 years from now we may find that the most crippling psyop of our era wasn’t due to the CIA. Rather Edward Bernays, nephew of Sigmund Freud, may have perpetrated the grandest psyop by defrauding us of our souls. Bernay’s became an evil genius by opening a new theater of war- the mind. Bernay’s mastery of propaganda preyed on the cognitive commons, implementing mass consumerism and materialism.
The awareness that a psychic smog corrupted the contours of our consciousness grows. Who knows whether Bernays or the CIA played a bigger role? However, one thing is certain, as the psychic smog dissipates, some mysteries still haunt and taunt us.
JFK, RFK, MLK

Alt-archaeology questions around our ancient prehistory and the Younger Dryas
Food dyes, seed oils, fluoride, vaccine efficacy
A lot of this might become proven bullshit, a good chunk could remain shrouded in secrecy, and we might get a tiny bit of truth about a few things, if we’re lucky. The veracity of our narratives isn’t the point here.
Look at the voracious appetite for the truth being displayed. These are all hot topics of conversation on the podcast/YouTube circuit. Also note the evident Neptunian themes around spirituality, mysticism, and illusions.
We don’t want our stories, our myths and our narratives to be based on lies anymore. How much of the 20th and 21st century has been a lie?
Are we having a Nada moment from They Live?
Not a “Mass Awakening” But an Apocalypse Instead?
The meaning of a “mass awakening” has become a loaded and sometimes pejorative one. For the record, I don’t think we’re all about to start hovering a foot off the ground in lotus position, bathed in nirvana, chanting Om, as our third eyes light up like a glow stick at a rave.
At the same time, it appears that the “veil is being lifted,” and that we’re crawling out of Plato’s cave after a long slumber. We’re rubbing our shrew eyes in the irritating light, as it disinfects and illuminates past lies, illusions and myths.
What we’re really experiencing is an apocalypse!
Whoa, whoa, whoa. That sounds like an unexpected and terrifying option on the 2025 bingo card. But, what is an “apocalypse”?
The lost definition of an “apocalypse” is a “prophetic disclosure or revelation.”
The protagonist Nada, from the movie They Live, experienced an apocalypse. I feel we’re here.
Revolution or Revelation Baby!
I think the year was 2021. I was driving across Austin, Texas in an Uber. Discussing the vibe at the time, the gregarious, middle aged woman exclaimed with a subtle twang, “Revolution or revelation baby!” This woman knew what was coming.
Except for the part about revelation, in which I think she probably was referring to the Bible’s last chapter. I’m not ready to go 4 horsemen quite yet.
In the sense of seeing the world with new eyes, and fresh sunlight, we seem to be at the apocalypse party now.
At the same time, “revolutions” are an increasing possibility too. Whether it’s a revolution in a political or a breakthrough context, massive changes looms just above our head.
The death of rational materialism could be happening as we shift to monistic idealism. A shift to monistic idealism would nurture the validity of the qualitative experience; under the influence of psychedelics for example.
We haven’t even discussed artificial intelligence and transhumanism which could both lead to unimaginable, awesome alterations to mankind.
The abundant chaos, confusion, uncertainty and fear make it an ideal time for cults to thrive. I’m just waiting for the next one to pop off. The liminal space between light and darkness creates the perfect environment for grifters, gurus, hucksters, shysters and snake oil salesmen of all kinds.
Buyer beware as you navigate the reality marketplace. There’s only 1 safe thing to buy into now- your Self.
Seek Refuge by Going Inside
The weird times we occupy aren’t localized to the United States or the West either. The zeitgeist extends all the way to Asia. Check out what this shaolin monk has to say about the state of the world.
The monk makes 2 key points. The monk’s first key point hinges on cosmic balance, or Taoism. The universe can never be out of balance. Thus the onset of darkness precipitates the light. The 2 are inseparable. Nonduality is a vital mindset to embrace today. Furthermore, the monk is promoting my idea that shit grows flowers.
The monk’s other key point is to “go inside.” He encourages us to take a spiritual path, and invest in internal work. Turn inward and become your own spiritual authority. Do the work of mind, body and spirit to build armor that defends against the outside world. Let the new myths, narratives, stories and discoveries come from within.
The best way to focus our agency on weathering a tempestuous external world, is to confront our own internal storm with courage. As Carl Jung stated,
No tree, it is said, can grow to heaven unless its roots reach down to hell.
Apocaloptimism- Revealing is Healing
In esoteric circles, debates now circulate about the Hindu Yuga cycles. Many people think we’re stuck in the dreaded Kali Yuga. However, Indian mystic Sadghuru believes we’re moving out of the Kali Yuga and into an improved age of mankind.
It’s not easy to see that heaven is the destination when we’re trudging through hell. Being an apocaloptimist makes a perfect match with the moment.
If a true apocalypse is a disclosure or a revelation, then revealing is healing.
Traumadelic healing isn’t the lone type of healing available. Society itself has its own wounds, traumas, and stories it has told itself to cope. As society heals now, we learn about the past lies we’ve told ourselves and the truth hurts.
Progress isn’t linear. Picture a rollercoaster; this is progress. Did you think birthing a new world would be painless? Does a first time mother experience both extreme pain and extreme joy?
The birth pangs are awesome aren’t they? With contraction, comes expansion, and one big contraction can lead to a big expansion.
Go “inside”, put your sunglasses on, and tell me, what do you see during “a time of great revealing?”
Do you know what April 2nd is? President Trump’s “Liberation Day.” Are we liberating from the past? From the psychic smog? From obsolete myths?
